Is it like church? Will I start on fire?

I have RSVP'd to a little soiree going on this weekend at:

I feel like the character in Pygmalion, ready to be *outted* at anytime as a sheer fraud.
But I'm going. Just me and my little design ego (which probably could fit in my tiny purse that
doesn't even hold my cigarettes). Be gentle, oh yea Design Chics from Toronto and the surrounding GTA. I'm a little-Town girl with big big big dreams of being kinda like you. I'll be the one in the corner, listening intently....NOT DRINKING WINE!

Guess what I got?

Rhymes with "bite her paw".....

Cue the music from JAWS....

That's right yo, I have convinced Greg to let me try to do the demolition and renovation of our master bedroom MYSELF, my Ding-Dang-Self. I bought this saw, a corded drill (cause I personally have never found a cordless drill that worked, they're like tampons.....without the string you're fu*#ed) and a small electric hand sander.

I could not be more excited. I'm more excited about these tools than the last bunch I bought at an *ahem* Passion Party. That's a whole different post.

Tools.

For me.

The girl who cried when Mr Shong, my Grade 10 shop teacher made me use the band saw.

Hear me roar, beatches!

Why I Don't Drink Wine Wednesday #3

Inevitably I do things and then post them on Facebook that may or may not make me look like a SUPERGEEK! Not that I have had any wine per se before these incidents but they serve as a constant and vigilant reminder that I do ridiculous shit even without the aid of the Evil Grape.

It's mine! All mine I tell you!

Remember the thrifting idiot? I saw this *perfect* teak desk in our local SVDP store for $85.00, I walked away only to have the worst thrifter's remorse ever.... after research and then finding this ad picture below online, the desk was being sold for $600!!!!!!!!! I felt sweaty.

I have a secret to tell you. You know you've done this too.....so I feel safe here. I have stalked this desk for weeks. I called the store to see if it had been reduced, kinda on a regular basis. I was thinking of filing papers for visitation and then... *cue angels singing*

$70.00 on sale....OK, OK only $15.00 bucks off, but damn it, it was the principal of the thing really. So my love and I packed it off to it's new home in Liam's room. He needs a highschool desk now...you know for homework. OK, really for junk and his computer. Look at it.

Yes, it needs a sand and restain. But it looks kinda familiar huh? I'm so pleased...wheeeeeeeeee

The floor....the floor!

So, the 1/4 round has yet to be done and I've already had to move most of the furniture back in to work around hockey being on the TV....but here is a look at the floors as they are almost done in the 3rd floor down.

Family room:

Love that brass detail on the fireplace, dontcha?

View down the hall to Liam's room:

Liam's room:

Remember this little redo? Well she's all tucked under a nice warm TV now....

Now to paint, decorate, accessorize, finish the fireplace/ 1/4 round and everything else on this list! OY!

Another 5 Question Friday

because you live to know all about me...all 32 of you, I am linking up for this second week of "all about me" :)
so here goes...

1. If you could have any talent and turn it into an occupation, what would it be?

I am a closet singer, mostly Annie Lennox, some Jill Scott and definitely Stevie Nicks....most of you should be very happy I have not chosen this as a career. I wish I could claim this as a *talent* but sadly it is in the wish-for department only. Ask anyone who has had to endure some drunken karaoke with me.....and there have been many my friend, MANY.

2. Would you rather have a house at the beach or a cabin in the woods?

Beach....beach! Beach! OK, time to fess up here. I have a small obsession with the beach. In fact I am slowly but surely transforming my home into some sort of Pacific Northwest meets the Hamptons nightmare. I am trying to start a 12 step program for this.......Hi Sunny

3. Is there any meaning or reasoning for the names you chose for your child/children?

Nope. Liam is named for Liam Neeson, cause in 1996, DAMN! Quinn is named for Aiden Quinn cause Greg's stoooopid cousin stole Aiden from our name bank 3 weeks before Quinn was born and the only Aiden I knew anyway was.....you guessed it, Aiden Quinn. Quinn it is. Greg and I are lazy. Both boys have very boring DOOD names for middle names, we thought we'd throw them a bone should they wish to be known as Dave and John.....LOL

4. What is your guilty pleasure? (I know we've done this one before, but I'm guessing people's "guilty pleasures" change frequently. At least, mine do!)

Sometimes I lie about how long things are going to take me so I can go and sit in our local coffee shop with leather chairs, the smell of arabica beans and people in black outfits.....do no tell my husband. He thinks I am having the car detailed.

5. Do you live in a house that is deep cleaned or straightened?

Buwahahahahahaha....my baseboards are growing experimental fungi for the Government, answer your question??

 Love your stuff, Ladies!

Why I Don't Drink Wine Wednesday #2

At one point in a wine drinking session, I decided I would finally try to dye my hair the shade of red I had always *thought* would look FABULOUS on me......yah well......
