Man alive, if anyone ever sees this, please send vodka and a manservant. I am sorely in need of some time off. I know we are going on vacation in August but I am ready now! But, Dharma, you just had 5 days to yourself you say....yes, dear heart, I did. Along with working and cleaning and generally trying to cram 15 years of single life fun into those 5 days....I now need a rest. Nevermind that I shopped, did two projects for the blog, finished a paper for school.....blah blah blah.
Somehow, driving to Florida with all the boys doesn't seem to fit this bill. Oh well, if I am lucky I'll get 14 minutes at poolside with 3 pages of a magazine.
So for all of you tired, exhausted, freaked out Moms....I present Lily Von Schtupp.

From EWWWWW to Ooooooohhhhhhhhh!
Awesome roadkill find! Small shabby chic nightstand, practically stuck her thumb out from the roadside and asked for a lift. Who am I to drive past a damsel in distress? Besides, look at those legs! She had a bad dye job to be sure. Someone had attempted putting her in leather. For shame.
So off came her hardware and out came her drawers. I sprayed the hardware with silver "Hammered Metal" spraypaint by Rustoleum that I had from painting my Mom's concrete steps (yep, you heard me right) and broke out the AQUA! OK, actually Rustoleum's "Painters Touch" spraypaint in *AQUA* :) :) :) Just typing that colour makes me smile. I didn't bother to sand or strip her down, I wanted that weird leathering texture to stay....it was kinda cute on her. The inspiration for blue came straight from the lovely lady Devore.
And so she dried out in the garage.....and then came in to become my telephone table. We are so far very happy together! I'll be linking her up to Fresh Coat Fridays. Linky up from my sidebar :)

You need to look at this....
Look at The Lettered Cottage for inspiration, for the love of all things summer, for a look into how I think I should live everyday :)

Corky-mofo!
One unused broken mirror panel (rightside one) from ugliest dresser ever (FREE). My niece Maya and I were determined to make this a functional but beautiful corkboard for her gray/ black and red themed bedroom. Two coats of black laquer spray paint and a coat of spray varnish ($11.00)
Then we measured out 6 12x12" corktiles we had at the house (FREE)....I was drinking the beer. LOL
Got the corktiles in and staggered the pattern to be covered up by a pretty ribbon bought from the bargain bin at Michaels ($1.29). She used ladybug pushpins also from Michaels ($4.00 for 60/ pkg).
A little hot glue, trimming the ribbons and finishing the top with an M for Miss Maya.....PERFECTION!
TOTAL = $16.29 (YAY us under 20 bucks for one-of-a-kindness) I am showing this off on Metamorphosis Monday! Oh and I am also showing off this fine MOnday morning on a few other linky parties. Check out my sidebar at the top for where :) Have a great week everyone.

I'm so excited....
I am making out my shopping list for my big-girl trip all by myself to The Restore and then on to Home Depot. I am going on Sunday after the boys go up north that morning. I will be buying things like "spackle" and "varnish". Holy sheepsh$t....this is very exciting stuff everyone! I have added another piece to the mix. A sweet little nightstand table I got for "just being me". I think it wants to be aqua. It has been speaking to me for two days now.... if I need an intervention, I will ask for help. Cause knowing you have a problem is the first step right?? RIGHT?July 13, 2010
Our Cottage View
This is the view from the front porch of my F-I-L's cottage up north. Greg and the boys are leaving this Sunday for 5 days......uhhhhhh, sorry I just drifted off into some other world where my guys are all out of Town for the week....you know, where I eat icing out of a can for dinner and I can walk topless to the main bathroom.
We go to the cottage every summer with the kids. Greg has been going since he was born. His Grampa George and Gramma Myrtle would take him up when he was a boy for the whole summer. Being the baby of 5, he got to be an only child for the summers with his grandparents....which I am sure is why he is as mellow and sweet as he is compared to his siblings.
I love this place. The cottage is ramshackle but perfect for a week away. It has hot running water now apparently and you can actually plug one thing in and not blow the entire fusebox anymore. Which, in my opinion, kinda makes it lose a bit of its magic but hey, I'm weird like that.
I wish I was going too (and then I get over it). I love this place. Swimming in the dark lake at dusk, the fires, watching Liam and Greg fish in the bay. Listening to Quinn laying in the dirt at the base of the dock making up stories with his little green army men....
But I'll run up and down the hall naked a few times to make sure I'm over it.

The Ugliest Dresser....ever.
Of course I am totally in love. $20.00 and it's mine all mine this weekend. I am so excited to get started and figure out the palette and colours I want to use. I'm thinking of utilizing this as a buffet in the kitchen area as I sorely need space for linens, junk and oh yeah....more junk. Any suggestions, oh amazing decorating mavens of cyberspace? What colours would you use?
