And away I go......

I'll be away in the *anals* of higher learning all next week. Going into my second year of intensive degree BOOT-CAMP. One whole semester in 5 days, plus a final and then released exhausted and freaked out to complete a term paper in 8 weeks! Wish me luck, I'll miss you ;) In the interim my husband will of course, hold down this fort. My sons will be thinner when I get home, which does not seem possible, but I may bring back treats...lol

Batter Up!

DOOD! I am so stoked for baseball season. We all dusted off the mitts tonight and actually had a game of catch in the backyard. Even the dog got into it. I swear to Gawd, I think Norman Rockwell shed a tear somewhere in heaven. Quinn is playing Rookie Ball for the first year this year and between the warm summer nights, lawnchairs, the freezies at the ballshack....I'm just not too sure what to get more excited about. Apparently according to Anheuser Busch I should be getting Quinn some Malt-Nutrine though.... I wonder if they sell this at the Beer Store? No really, up here in Canada-eh we have a place that sells just beer and the signs just say BEER STORE. We're a simple people, we like summer baseball and apparently really easy to read signage :) Send me Crackerjacks please....kisses!

Mostly I have been a good person this year and I have restrained myself in umpteen situations to not "choke the f#$k" out of particular people in my life....therefore, because Santa has repeatedly ripped me off, I amsending this request right to your attention. My dresser redux for my sister's birthday surprise....

So I put out the call for unloved but functional furniture at my work. What came back to me from our I.T. department was a solid but strangely "knotty pine" 6 drawer dresser. This was to be used in my sister's new master bedroom.....budget = $40+. I had to get down and dirty to make this work....

So I painted the drawer fronts and top in white primer and left the knotty pine finish on the fronts and sides....the pine would match her laminate flooring and the finish I planned was going to make sense with her chocolate brown walls. Then on to the finish...

I used Rustoleum outdoor paint in "Dark Chocolate" to create a streaked effect with a dry brushing after the original first coat went down. I then added a polyurethane coat to protect the paint. I wanted that old "barn board" feel. I was pretty stoked when it actually worked!

Here is the dresser in place. In  front of the chocolate walls and with the pine laminate flooring, it fit in perfectly. Excuse the bad picture....I'm a spaz.

Send a maid, a chauffer, a personal assistant, a wife.....

I am so damn tired. I know I will sally-on. For today though, I feel like trying not to curl up under my desk and pretend that I'm not turning into my best version of a slug.

I start my 2nd-year University course in 3 weeks, I have probably a million pages of pre-course reading to undertake and I cannot seem to find anytime in the day to even get a start on any of it. I am swimming in overtime. I have so many projects on the fly right now I should have sprouted 6 more arms and changed my name to Vishnu.

The boys (including Greg) are flying into summer with track & field, taekwon do, baseball, summer vacation plans, school grad, cottaging, friends, BBQs, entertaining, deck plans etc etc etc. Greg is off for the summer, of course (insert eye-roll here). I know I should bow down in the direction of Mecca and thank my holy stars for that.....but truly, sometimes having 3 men in my house while I am at work all summer long with the housekeeper on holidays......just the thought of it makes me wanna cry.

So I am seriously thinking of taking up drinking in the afternoons, wanna join me?
